Here in Leavenworth County, KS they have the diversion program, it doesn't save you any money, but it keeps the conviction off your record. You have to stay "clean" for 2 years or they backup and nail you for the first one.
    Its all about the revenue.

Not allowed for CDL holders in any state per FMCSA regs.

funny, the state of Indiana just let me divert what they considered a 'moving violation', parking on a ramp shoulder.....that they said 'it will cost you 2pts.'.....now it's not on my record at all.....and it was in a big truck of course.....though maybe thats how they justify claiming a parking ticket is a moving violation.....

    What's up in California?
Well, ........ they're called mountains, Lt.
And not only are they UP, they also go down.
Nuthin' like 'em in the Peach State. :biggrin_25512:

The original poster's hubby got popped twice for exceeding the DOWNhill speed limit on 5 miles of 6% downgrade, ---
    twice in the same spot.

There's a HUGE sign readin' 35 MPH, but he was doin' 51 MPH the first time, and "about" the same the second time.

35 MPH is the MAXIMUM speed allowed, and MANY Big truck truck drivers elect to
descend the Grapevine even slower, which isn't a bad idea, --- especially for those without
    engine brakes and/or heavily loaded.

What increases the pucker factor on the 'Vine' is that the north 6% down side is constant, ---
no flat places for 5 miles, just down.
Not a good place to lose the brakes. Coasting for
5 downhill miles could twist a speedo around, ---
well past the 80 MPH mark.
More like 120 MPH, or more.
Add flamin' brakes to that mixture, and a tire, or two, blow-out, and it isn't a
    pretty picture.

That experience is known in these parts as
    Mr. Toad's WILD Ride. :biggrin_2551:
    HANG ON!
Even then, some don't survive for a second
trip. It's referred to as an "E" coupon ride, and can
be more expensive than the price might indicate.
It can, and HAS, cost the lives of some drivers.
And could easily do that ANYtime.
White knuckles aren't uncommon, even for some
    seasoned Big truck truck drivers.
That ol' mountain DEMANDS respect, and so do those
    who enforce the speed limit.

And, IMO, receiving a citation for speeding there has nothin' to do
    with cows.
    Cash OR milking.

I was only referring to the normal California roads.

As far as Grapevine, totally agree.

i drove grapevine daily, 1+ yrs daily, have gotten same type violation, i used pre-paid, they got it reduced to no points, "coasting on grade". paid no fines, etc. however, this area is hp favorite. there r 2 speed reductions before u hit final grade b4 35mph, hp will sit there partially hidden, lights out, etc.....sometimes you'll get warnings on cb.
rumor has it, that some nice court houses have been built on fines 4 taking chances and mistakes made by all on tha grapevine.
shop wisely 4 an attorney, quotes i got were outrageous when i inquired (2006)
i found pre-paid 2b practical, cuz, i don't need to show in court, at least 4 speeding and lessor violations
gotta b careful on grapevine, hp, hide out with radar, north/south bound.
