You are required to know how to inspect your truck to determine if it s ready to drive on public roads. You did a pre-trip, I hope.

Try being in Los Angeles with no shoulder to stop on. And your ecm loses power. Shutting down your engine.

You put your four way flashers on, and then the next thing you do is? And how long do they give you to do it?

This^. That's why a dash cam could literally save you. I think it's an entirely possible situation, busy, no place to pull over, an inexperienced driver may hope it "comes back", and when it shuts down completely, it could very well be in the lane of traffic. There may be no time to set out triangles. Now, common sense should dictate, in any rear end collision is, or always used to be, the persons fault that did the rear ending for inattentive driving. Well, Dewey, Cheatum, and Howe got in saying if you weren't there, the crash never would have happened. Be a long one in court, for sure. It really would come down to, if you were stopped for some reason ahead of you, that's out of your control, but a breakdown, that would be messy.

You don't turn the hazards on.
    You'll confuse traffic.
Use turn signals so traffic knows.
Then hazards once out of traffic.

You'll get out of traffic a lot easier that way.

It’s like the train engineer says. I don’t control the speed I don’t control rail traffic I don’t control the brakes I don’t even control the horn it’s all done by a computer but let the train derail and who are they yelling at

This is precisely why there will likely never be unmanned trucks (at least in our time). Even if they only pay a person minimum wage to sit behind the controls, he's their scapegoat if anything goes wrong....

Back before the internet and social media if your truck lost power you immediately put on your right turn signal and coasted over to the shoulder as best you could.
Put on your four ways and put out your triangles or in some cases your fuses.
And,,, if it was possible you grabbed a bright colored object or light and directed traffic.
    But today,, who knows??:(
