Heading to Kentucky yesterday. I have plenty of time so I stop to have dinner with family in Cincinnati. Of course I’m not watching the clock. Get back to the truck and I have 44 minutes left. Crap!!
So I gamble and figure I will find a pull off. Like a dummy I pass up a gas station and a huge pull off thinking how I always find more spots. Well, that was the last 2 places for miles. I ended driving 18 minutes over to get to the next town. And I’m only 6.5 miles from our terminal.
So I had to start my clock this morning to drive to shop to have truck worked on. Felt like a complete moron.![]()
I’m a moron, over on hours.

ahh hell we all took the gamble at least once with thinking there will be more spots up ahead... at least you were smart enough to not just pull the break on the side of the highway like some guys would do.. i passed a truck this morning about 2am outside of bishop california, he was parled on the shoulder but he had half his trailer sticking out into the travel lane, i had to take half of the oncoming lane just to keep from hitting the frickin guy... now thats a real moron, what you did is just an honest mistakeT.Rucker, Grubby, QuietStorm and 9 others Thank this. -

When I rolled thru Cincinnati and Missouri I always left an extra hour to make sure. -
That was what paper logs and HHG miles came in. Roughly 20% leeway against actual miles. Figure out the paper tomorrow is what we did. After finding a spot somewhere that didnt kill anyone.
This new electronic stuff is stopping trucks who are out of time and incur violations. If enough are incurred the company will be absorbed in making sure all of them are resolved and no one would be arranging loads on a mass scale.
