I’m Really Trying

What's wrong with daydreaming?. As long as you are still aware of your surroundings and in control of your truck, daydreaming is one of my favorite pastimes. Its free and can be done almost anywhere.

Music can get boring (never thought I would ever say that), but I still enjoy podcasts. They seem to make time go by quicker.

 

I enjoy being alone with my thoughts. I’m a good conversationalist when I’m alone with myself.

 

Sometimes I'll take in a granger farm prices on the AM radio in the central states. Just working out how many bushels go into a 18 wheeler is a good exercise to keep the mind active. I try to take in any programming that is pretty good for the time.

It's not so much the radio but actually the television. It would never lose a channel anywhere on the east coast after 9-11 for a period of weeks. You could take in several shows as you traveled across several states instead of going out of range at 50 miles give or take 10.

In winter there are a few snow angels left here and there. The eastbound pull out of Laramie comes to mind. A little bit of cold snow time wakes up a driver for a while.

If it's really bad, we will find a motel and get a rental car for a couple of days. If we are gone for weeks and months the company does not begrudge waiting a couple days for us to unwind locally before loading us again. We play tourist at that time.

 

Once in a while when tornadoes walk the valley along 64 towards conway truckers who did not get the word will be knocked down clean off the pavement. They will end up on the side or roof front to back and require a recovery. It's not exactly the best route to be chased by tornadoes because there is a buried major gas line along there that could really be a problem.

 

i personally just feel good by just enjoying the scenery even though been there many times before. love driving so always feel the excitement from that. i like to drive without the music. do you get enough sleep ?

 

My husband listens to audio books from Audible. That can really make the time fly and keep you awake and thinking.
