You're in a good location for high paying tanker jobs. Tankers do hair follicle drug tests, so you'd need to be clean for 12 months.
Is there a cdl school near you? Some offer weekend classes for students that can't afford to quit their regular job.
Schneider Bulk will probably pay for cdl school, then hire you for tankers. That's one of those $65K jobs right out of school.
Sometimes a recruiter will try to convince you to go Schneider dry van for 6 months, then switch to tankers. I'd argue with the recruiter about that.

 

I understand that; I was in the Navy and can't deal with punching a time clock; rather jump of a cliff than spend my working life doing that.

 

If you can get on with Schneider Bulk, then in 12 months you can switch to several different ones in Decatur if you want. The pay will be about the same though, around $65K+ per year.
