Navigation developed by multiple people around the globe in ancient times all relying on astronomy... Got us all the way to the internet and suddenly humans evolved to have enough sense to know better suddenly decide silliness that wasn't even believed in centuries ago.
    Welcome to the New world...

Not quite true...Columbus wasn't supposed to return because the world was flat, yet he found land on the other side.
It is strange, though, that a ship can sail from China across the Pacific, through the Panama canal and on across the Atlantic, around the bottom of Africa and, after circumnavigating a few islands, end up back in China.

Not sure if the trip would run deisul or widdershins or, if we believe those gods darned scientists, they really went around the center of a sphere.

If we only live a two dimensional existence, that could be why some people seem so shallow.

Not sure how many, if any, will recognize this reference. Being a huge sci-fi/fantasy buff, I felt obliged to post it. hqdefault.jpg

Love it!!!! Anything by Sir Terry is fantastic...or fantastical lol
But Columbus knew we're on a globe. He just didn't know how big it is. He was looking for a shorter route to the far East, not trying to prove the world is round...

Ground can erode quite quickly. A good example are the fast eroding beaches of Florida as well as sinkholes. Miami is predicted to be underwater in 80 years.

Same goes for California. Million dollar homes crashing into the ocean.

Out in the Pacific Rim, volcanoes are forming new islands almost daily. So yes, landscapes can change drastically and quickly.

I remember seeing newspaper photos of twisted railroad steel from flooding of the mighty Mississippi in 1996. The power of that water had me in awe.

And how many times have you driven by a hillside that is prone to landslides? Last year, there was that massive landslide in California on 299 that shut the road down for six months.

On to the Grand Canyon. I'll probably lose you here, but here goes anyway.

First, I must state that much of human history is a lie. Nothing much is said about past civilizations on Earth. And we know that advanced civilizations existed. And these civilizations are much older than what we are told.

It has become my opinion that The Grand Canyon was the site of an ancient mining operation.

If you've ever seen massive mining equipment scraping rocks and dirt away, it leaves Earthen walls behind that resemble closely that of what you see in The Grand Canyon.

20200319_103201_HDR.jpg so driving into work and the truck on the left flew by me in the right lane. Then proceeded to zig zag in and out of traffic on 92 off of I-4 in Tampa. Drivers driving like 4 wheelers is a recipe for a pile up.
