I live out here and this is why I don't buy low rolling resistance tires. I feel dumb in the summer burning off rubber, but come winter time the deep lugs, high rolling resistance and open shoulder come in handy.

Have you considered a summer set and a winter set? Put the low rolling resistance set on another set of wheels, so you can quickly swap them all out in the spring and fall?

I would think as a one truck guy you end up with casings that are older than I’d be comfortable running before it was time for new tires. Plus your summer tires would only be on the truck for about 4 or 5 months anyway.

Got our sister company dug out today and recovered a bunch of stuff that they had left on 76.

Not really. Buy virgin only. Average 10,000 miles per month. Use them 50/50 (its not always bad 7 months out of the year up here), for a total of 60,000 per year per set. How many miles are you getting out of your drives? In 5 years, that's 300,000 miles on each set, and casings are good for 6-8 years.
