Was up there in a car back in the early 90's for an audit. I don't remember it being too bad. Alot of trees and fairly flat sticks in the mind.

Motel was a pain in Plattsburgh though.

I wasn't driving so I did not pay attention.

I flew into Syracuse and was met by the local representative and we drove up there together.

North of Saratoga Springs its very rural. If I remember right its heavily wooded, and no steep hills. I can't remember if there are any truck stops up that way or not. If you hear them talking about the 'Northway' on the cb thats I 87 north of Albany. When I was pulling a tanker I would deliver to Owens Corning just outside of Albany and then deadhead to Montreal for a load of Titanium Dioxide slurry headed for the paper mills in Wisconsin. Its good running up that way as long as you don't have to cross the border into Quebec.

Once you get out of Albany, its very nice. Traffic thins out and its a smooth ride(IIRC, the roads are in good shape). The scenery reminded me of I-89 in Vermont.
The truckstop guide I have(2 yrs old) shows 8 truck stops between Albany and Plattsburgh with one in Plattsburgh. Its called "Exit 36 Truck Stop".
Guess what exit its at? :biggrin_25526:

There's a restaurant around the corner if you have time and don't mind walking three tenths of a mile called Mickey's. Best NY Strip I've ever had. Melts in your mouth. You might fit a bobtail in there if I remember right and it's not lunch hour.
