Most Dangerous Big Cities? Rural-Suburbs-Small Cities Can Have Higher Rates Of Violence | Crime in America.Net
"Police chiefs and crime analysis experts will show the National Crime Victimization Survey report (or commercial documents) to their mayors who simply can’t (or won’t) believe that their small city or suburb could have higher rates of crime than larger cities."Even just relying on reported crimes, Joplin County, MO has 5.25 violent and 63.28 property crimes per 1,000 people while Chicago has 8.7 violent and 23.8 property crimes per 1,000 people. The more accurate correlation with crime is age and wealth, not rural/urban.
