Ahhh, I thought the company was paying for it and then you work it off so-to-speak. That changes things then.
Hopefully Averitt will not say that, but I would be prepared for some one on one training for a few weeks, if they hire you on.
I applied to Averitt

I'm ready for that. I would think the company would pay for it if you were going to work for them and work it off but meh. My thought is that they were trying to get me to agree to pay for all the refresher >.>

Well someone from Averitt called and left me a message. I called him yesterday and left a message but haven't gotten a reply yet...
-
Just keep trying and don't let up. Call them again and again if need be. It'll work out the way you want.
-
I hope so. I'm really looking forward to hopefully get back out on the road.

HE called and they're going to resend through the background check and everything. Hopefully this time I can make it! Won't be able to go to orientation until February though. My current job is short on drivers and I have a stuffed full schedule through all of January, they've been good to me so I don't want to screw them over. THis is actually one of maybe 4 days i have off all month lol.

Will obvously have to do the 6 weeks training and orientation, but I fully expected that. I like that it's 5 weeks of the road training and a full week on the yard practicing backing and whatnot. I like that. That will be a big help. I'm not the best backer in the world that's for sure lol.

Congratulations! I figured it would work out for you...

I was hoping. Shoulda tried again with averitt earlier on... I figure this time even if they can't get me a trainer close to me but still tell me i have to pay for my own hotel i'll just do that. Less money than driving back and forth.

Keep the past in mind, but don't actively think about it this time. Situations are different on your end and maybe on Averitt's side as well. Who know, but just let it ride out since you have time before anything can happen, since your still with the other company.
Oh, and if you have to drive, anything over 75 miles, Averitt will pay you .26 a mile. I had to drive 2.5 hours during my training, and they at least paid for the gas I used, so there is that.
