I come from an IT background so I can see so many efficient improvements to the trucking industry to make it way more efficient. I searched and cannot find such a service so maybe I have to quit trucking and create it myself... A more efficient load board, where brokers can post loads with the non negotiable price, and instead of calling or texting them, you as a registered member of this site would just click that you will accept the load after you review all of the details of the load such as the type, weight, shipper and receiver, etc.
As a member your basic truck info, reputation, reviews, will be available for the broker to see. They can then approve your request and you'll be notified that you have that load. You can also get paid through this website immediately after the load is delivered. Some brokers may even use an option if they trust you to have any load you take automatically be assigned to you. There are a lot of other ideas which can be added to which I won't get into. I can actually create this service but the thing with the IT field is it takes a lot of time and money to launch just to find out people may not fall in love with it even though they claim to want to use it prior to development. Or it does become successful and a corporation will rip you off and offer the same service for free or half price.
I assume such a service doesn't exist yet. Should I create it?

A load board with posted prices that are set and non-negotiable? Sorry but that's a stupid idea and the opposite of a free market. Rates are determined on the open market not in some North Korea style market. Set prices that are non negotiable is going to leave a lot of freight sitting on docks unmoved. It will never work.

The brokers will compete with one another on this site in a free market. I could add a limit per mile to make sure only good paying loads appear. You have the choice in a free market to accept the load or not. I appreciate the feedback though and perhaps I could add an option to negotiate for those who are into that. Me personally I don't like speaking on the phone with people with thick accents or being placed on hold for 30 minutes or to wake up with a ton of voicemails and texts. I rather click a button and make money.

So sell everything you own and invest in yourself. Doubt you have that much confidence in it.

So you will only allow good rates to be posted? Lmao.... So what exactly does that mean? Who determines what is a good rate? You? Ridiculous idea that will never fly. You shouldn't be in this business if something as basic and fundamental as price negotiations on a load are too intimidating for you. Or you're scared to make phone calls. Posted prices are a tactic used to keep a rate low.

Sounds like you described Uber freight

I have come to enjoy the (good) relationships I have built with knowledgeable brokers who can know what to call me for. I see your point though.
But in the end I would still be answering the phone all day and quoting loads and looking through your board.I really have come back to preferring human beings for better or for worse. We will learn together I guess.
I am a bad example though I don't look at any load boards ever. That is for brokers IMO....I drive...they find...I post myself accurately and wait for the phone to ring no matter how long that takes. (not long but I am always willing to wait for the good stuff and IMO that is the stuff brokers call you about) -
Ok nevermind then. You guys have proven once again that you only like to complain and keep the problems instead of actually making things easier for yourself. If you had nothing to cry about you would be even more depressed.

I'm sorry man but like 15 Uber for trucks startups got funded big time in the last 12 months.
I'm looking at building some software myself, but it's not something anyone has built yet.
The reality is that load boards have powerful network effects and we already have two major ones that work relatively well. If you want to disrupt load boards you're going to need more than this.
Also the other posters are right that the market idea you have probably won't work. Trucking rates go up and down constantly because it's a brutally cyclical business and supply and demand are constantly fluctuating. Software isn't going to fix that no matter how cool it is.Mattflat362, gentleroger and PPLC Thank this. -
Pretty thin skinned if your going to sell something.
PPLC Thanks this.
