The point being, some think hitting another truck is no big deal. If hitting a trucks mirror is no big deal then that attitude transfer to local work where depending what ur doing u will be in residential areas delivering with impossible turns to make and stuff like that.. Those are the drivers that tear up everything . Ones that think tearing up stuff is just "part of the job" is part of the problem those of us who own the equipment have to sleep with our eyes open when parked at the truckstop for the night... hitting someone else's truck is a big deal and you should be punished heavily for it... I have never hit another truck. Ever. Or a trailer. But have been backed into multiple times. As well wrecked my own truck on my own terms. But never have I damaged anybody else's equipment, because I have respect towards my fellow drivers.
But never have I damaged anybody else's equipment, because I have respect towards my fellow drivers. Respect toward others is pretty rare this days. It happens, but it's rare.
Almost all carriers are going to treat a broken or damaged mirror as an internal incident. Same with a busted windshield. Learn from this and do your best to not hit or damage another vehicle ever again.
When I was in the fire dept, they had an accident/injury form we had to fill out in the event of one. There was a catagory that asked " how could this accident been prevented?" You couldn't say it couldn't be. They told us. "Well the -fiil in the blank- just fell on my hand!" "Well you should have been more careful". Some one has to take the blame.
Not being mean but there's no way you're ready to move to local after one year, especially if you're already hitting other trucks.....
And that's the problem, new drivers don't wanna take responsibility or say it's no big deal they took off that trucks mirror....some even will run away and not admit to their wrongdoing.....
It is a big deal it means he didn't check his clearance as all drivers know to do.....next time it won't be a mirror but an entire fender....
So you don't mind me mugging you and taking $500 out of your wallet? I mean after all it's just your wallet. If that's not fine why is it fine to do that much damage to someone else's truck?
Really....guy broke a mirror. Crap happens. What happens after the fender? Truck drivers make me laugh.
Take a better job when you get an opportunity and learn from your mistake. The people who have been trucking for 25-35 years and haven’t torn something up are either lying or not doing anything. 35 years without an at fault accident but I allegedly got a mirror or two in my early days. Luckily it was own mirror but I still allegedly got them.
