You're never going to convince these rookies of this, as they've never had real skin in the game. I wouldn't go back to operating my own equipment, but I learned a ton while doing it.

 

No one is disputing this point. The question was originally asked, "How will this affect me getting another job?" (My paraphrase.) All of this commentary that you have offered has NOTHING to do with that question.

 

Well if they came to apply to work for my company, I would not hire somebody that tears up equipment. But there is plenty of companies that will. And that is why there is so many trucks accidents and people bashing into things

 

But, they didn't come asking about your company. So, what you would or wouldn't do is irrelevant.

 

The difference is tearing up my own equipment vs tearing up someone else's. It's an American thing. We have concepts of personal property, and you don't damage things you don't own. Since you're not from here, I understand that might not be part of your culture, but that's how it works here as a general rule.
