Western fleet owner. I sent you a pm about work and you never replied. To the other posters: 55 cpm is a good rate if there are other perks like wait time, layover, etc.

    Your business, your rules.

The determination of whether a wage is a good wage is for the employee to determine, not the employer. The employer sets the rate, the employee decides whether it is acceptable.

Otherwise, the tail would be wagging the dog.

This might have nothing to do with wage and everything to do with the way the job is marketed. As someone who studies the job boards, I see countless job ads posted on a daily basis that are beyond pathetic.

The biggest problem I see is the lack of job details or unprofessional contact methods like texting. (You want me to text you for a job? Lol) Most of these garbage ads are so brief and poorly wrote, they’ve immediately turned off anybody worth hiring.

Not saying that’s the case here with Western Fleet Owner. Just pointing out that there is a ton of bad ad-writing / job marketing out there.

Those bad ads are often due to a language problem.

Home time is now a bigger factor than in the past. Before it was all about miles and money. Now they need 8 hours a day for video game and Instagram time.
Also some of the local gigs are paying better than the highway.
Seen lots of local driving jobs around Saskatoon, home every night $25 to $28 per hour. All hours, none of this first two hours is free stuff.

Join the crowd. Everybody got spoiled sitting at home drawing unemployment during Covid. Nobody wants to work now. Nearly every place around here is hiring and desperate for help. Why work when checks show up in the mail?

I guess you’re from Canada my bad.

I was getting $0.55 in 2016. Inflation is a real thing.

I work to live, not live to work. I did the 14+ hour day crap in my early 20s. No thank you. You gotta have leisure time or else life is boring.
