Just ask him to put "- so do you know how to work your log books" in writing, sign it, print his name and date it. Tell him to fax it to you and you will be on your way.
I cannot take my dispatcher anymore....

Newtrucker my heart goes out to you i had the same problem a few years back and fixed it up quite easily, you see i just asked my dispatcher how he/she would feel if 1 of there family members where ever involved in a collision with a truck driver who'd just gone over his legal hrs would he be understanding towards that particular truck driver you can guess what the answer was however 1 thing was clear i never ever got asigned a hot load again but at the same time i was still in good with the dispatcher .
GuysLady and adamup1983 Thank this. -

UPDATE:
The Family Dollar DC here in OK has a nasty lumper scam going. They told me 120 to unload me. (I got lucky, JB Hunt next to me had a 225 lumper)
Anyways, call after hours dispatch, and wouldnt you know it goes to the same dispatchers cell phone. So, I say hey I need 120 for a lumper. He tells me, sorry I dont have any money or access to it right now.
Me "Well, what do you want me to do ? They want 120 to unload me"
DM "Call us back in the morning at 9am and we will figure it out"
Me "Umm, I am here, my dock appt is 9pm, and they want their money"
DM "Then you just unload it"
Me "I aint doing any unloading for free, you just said you dont have any money"
DM "I am tired and going to bed, call in the morning"
Me "No bother, I will see you at the office in the morning"
DM "How? I haven't assigned you a load back to Chicago from OK yet"
Me "Because I am dropping YOUR trailer here and bobtailing home, sick of this"
DM "You cant drop the trailer, it is a LIVE LOAD"
Me "Well, just call me in the morning to discuss this, I have a long drive to Chicago"
5 minutes later I got a text with the T Check number

Good man. Threaten to quit goes a long way if you are willing to risk it, there is a fine line however. Buddy of mine quit werner then they called him back the next week with a new truck, a dedicated run and a pay raise...
Amazing lol -
Sorry to hear that.
But I wish company names were included in posts like this. If it is true then it is not libelous.
If things do not get corrected then they will have a harder time finding drivers to succumb to their tactics. When they run out of drivers that will run illegal we all win and don't risk our livelihood in doing so.

In my defense, I was stubborn and refused to work for sub minimum wage from the Swifts and Werners out there for the first 6 months to a year.
So along comes these guys........ BAM here ya go.
I now have almost 10k solo miles in, and learn more and more every day. I get most of my advice from the wonderful people on this website here, always helping me with my noob questions.
I ran illegal my first week, thought that was how it was in the real trucking world. After posting the story about it here, EVERYONE jumped on me for doing it. Also, a guy with this same company I work for got caught last week running illegal and got a 3000 ticket. I just cant risk that, especially with the 72 hour DOT being next week.
Now, in my 4th week, I am standing up for myself and refusing to run illegal. Will I shave an hour or so here and there ? Sure. My truck is governed at 65, its easy to pick up an extra hour. Will I run 16 HOURS in a day ? ? ? He11 no............
I wont mention the name of the company until I no longer work there. I already mentioned in a prior post that they pay me cash and 1099 me at years end, which I have come to find out that since I am not an owner op is very illegal.
And that time may be soon - I already refused a load, and threatened a dispatcher tonight for not issuing me a lumper check. My time here is numbered........... -
So was this the truck that had no top windows? Is that why they do not open now?
Mikeeee -
If you don't want to run the way the company wants then find another. There are plenty of companies using E-logs who can't/won't push you at all.
