Schneider seems to really be slowing down hiring. I heard recently from one of the trainers that they've put a freeze on the CAT program for students needing to get a CDL and are currently only hiring new drivers that already have a CDL. I'm not sure if that's just for my OC or everywhere.

    That's hilarious!!!

And yes, if you qualify for enlistment, you can do a 3-year (plus training time) enlistment as an 88M in the Army. They will send you to basic, then 5 weeks, 4 days at the US Army Trucking School at Ft Leonard Wood, MO. After training, you will be assigned to a transportation company where you will get specialized training on the particular equipment they operate. After 2 years, go through whichever state's DMV and find their Military CDL Skills Waiver program. That allows you to take the written tests alone and the paperwork completion, complete with certification from your commanding officer, will grant the waiver and you get your CDL without the skills test or ELDT.

You may laugh....and that's ok....a sense of humor is a GREAT thing to have.

But I would respectfully submit...that every able-bodied male....right out of high school...should have to go thru something like that.

We'd be A LOT BETTER OFF as a nation if that were in fact the case.

    Yeah....it's tough medicine.

    But it's GOOD medicine.

3/4s of today's seniors could not make it. People that would otherwise not make it would get others killed. Unless something happens that requires the draft again, I would keep our military a volunteer force. For those that could make it the discipline serves well past the military service.
