Trucking Is a serious Industry, we have so many People coming Into America being put behind the wheel of a 65 foot 80,000lb tractor trailer that never even drove a car, no training at all and we see the results of this on the news everyday be safe out here driver always ask questions don’t be afraid to ask other drivers out here for help at shippers receivers truck stops, contrary to what you may hear a lot of us truckers still help each other out

I saw all this as an opportunity to make light of the overwhelming shoe preference of a certain far-less-than-professional group of drivers.

maybe wear them all the time to get used to them.

I've been retired for 6 yrs now and run around bare foot for days or weeks, put shoes on to go to the store and end up scuffing the ground. not used to the extra inch or so under my foot I guess. lol

First go get a pair of low cut slip on boots, Chelsea boots are not bad, a bit expensive but they do qualify as boots.

Second, unless the dress code is part of the written policy of the school and it is stated in the contract, I would tell them stick it. If they hassle you about it, then tell them you want a refund, a full refund.

By the way, I would get used to boots, it didn’t take long for me too. I can wear anything and drive a truck. One day at a customers (I was a temp driver), I showed up with a pair of these

I can even drive my jeep with them on.

Work boots have ankle support and thicker soles. My vote. Do an experiment, walk bare footed 1/2 block. Then do it wearing flip flops. Then tennis shoes, then work boots. I once worked with a driver who wore flip flops doing flat bed. Even climbing around on the deck. Weird. Military people wear boots, pretty much a necessity.

I’ve always wore boots. To be fair, I only used the clutch to put the truck in gear the first time. Never used it to shift. It feels more strange to me to wear shoes when driving a truck because I’m not used to that at all.

By the way, once you get your CDL, learn to float shift then you can put the boots back on.

when I drove, I wore ankle high waterproof hiking boots.
