I don't understand. If the boots are very new or very stiff is the problem the sole doesn't bend, or you can't tell when you are touching the clutch? Are you asking for help or just telling us what your footwear choice will be on test day?
-
Actually it's combination of a couple of things, first I'm well aware that there are many drivers with big feet, I wear a size 15 extra wide, and it just feels like the sole of the boot is not just on the clutch but touching the brake at the same time.
In addition, I'm guessing due to the thickness of the sole, I'm not aware of how far I'm pressing the clutch and at times I'm going so far as to engage the clutch brake.

I wear 100% leather dress boots usually, like a Chelsea boot etc.. there’s tons of styles
Diesel Dave and strider1500 Thank this. -
Yeah, I'm simply going to have to find a better boot. There are too many jobs that require safety toe boots and I'm not going to limit my already limited employment opportunities once I'm done with school.
-
Can you not push with the toe of your boot and not the full width of your boot?
-
I agree, I'm going to have to improve my clutching technique. I'm sure it will come with more time in the seat.

You will be glad your wearing boots when you start sloshing around in snowy walkways VS. tennis shoes etc. Also, you will be banging around in the trailer unloading or helping to unload and throwing pallets , using pallet jacks etc. Trust me on this, doesn't hurt that bad when you drop an empty pallet on your steel toed foot VS. your tennis shoe. Mis-step climbing out of your trailer hitting the pavement wearing tennis shoes VS. work boots, well, you get the picture. "Uniform" of the day back in the 70's when I started in this biz, Jeans, cowboy boots, western shirt, big belt buckle (of course) and cowboy hat ! Even though I hailed out of Ca. I found myself inheirting an Oklahoma twang accent ! ! Luck to ya'
Numb, strider1500 and tscottme Thank this.
