I wasn't aware this isn't a real life. If you weren't happy I'm glad you had the opportunity to pursue a different idea that's what the American dream is all about. I have mine already don't seem too bad at this point

The team aspect was relaying to the next driver for OD from what I've seen, unless you can now team in a daycab, and I have had the conversation with safety and he didn't buy the change in rules allowing taking a 10 off duty in a daycab.
The other thing is, the weather around here isn't good during freezing weather for single axle tractors pulling wiggle wagons. Many are switching to tandem tractors to do it, I don't know that it is that much better, but that is what I'm seeing.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
Hmmm.... I've been on Elogs for the last 4 years, and with this company I've been getting average between 2500-3000 plus miles, so it can be done.
blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
Yeah. Our guys used to tell the dispatchers they were out of hours when they got to a nice terminal with a decent motel. E logs won't let them do that anymore. It also let's them know we can work the weekends sometimes when before we couldn't because we were out of hours.
blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
OD calls a relay a "meet & turn". That's linehaul drivers meeting at a point about halfway to the next hub, trading trailers and manifests, and return home everyday. (eg. DEN-SLC meets Wamsutter, DEN-OMA meets North Platte) Weekend running is voluntary.
Besides linehaul (bid run) driver positions, there is linehaul (wild) drivers, P&D drivers, and team drivers. Teams have 2-axle tractors w/sleepers, though not very big. They don't trash around walking their dogs and don't layover much, so I can understand why not too many know about them. Teams are all about making as much money as possible, and hurrying home for a couple days.blairandgretchen and 25(2)+2 Thank this. -
I wish I could run 1k miles a day on elogs. I always shut down and can't go to sleep as I'm not tired! YOU CAN"T GET ANY MILES ON ELOGS!blairandgretchen Thanks this.

Every year I would be asked to team. Every year I declined. I've teamed and trained in the past. Team driving wrecked my body more than anything. Eat and sleep schedule always changing, sitting too long and feeling my body get weaker by the day, and having to endure somebody else on the truck didn't appeal to me. Besides I was enjoying a regular workout routine and weekends off playing in the Rocky Mtns. I was ok with my bid run, getting by on $80000/yr. Only things I hated were dangerous weather(high winds, microbursts, tornados, ice, blizzards), mostly night driving and day sleeping(I was a vampire), and be forced to go even knowing the road would be closed and would be called back after wasting a few hours sitting in Laramie.
Money is great, for those who are willing to sacrifice and save. I paid off a house, maxed out my retirement accounts, and got completely debt free thanks to OD.
The people who set too many conditions and won't sacrifice are the ones who are always broke and jealous of us who have pshed ourselves. ODFL was and is a great opportunity for the intrepid.snowblind and blairandgretchen Thank this.
