that "seven day notice" is a bunch of bull

do they preplan you seven days in advance? NO

if they do, then yes, give them seven days notice

if they dont have the respect of giving you your loads one day, two days, five or seven days in advance, that tells you how much they either respect your time or they dont really advance seven days

most companies plan you depending on what is available within a day or so, some dont even bother looking for a load for you until after they are certain you will be unloaded on time

so give them exactly what they give you, if they plan you seven days in advance, then you give them seven day notice

if they wait until you are unloaded, then know that you were not given proper notice to plan your time

I've missed being home on time twice with Schneider. Both times weren't really the companies fault. Once I had a leaky trailer and another I chose to cover a load that had a tight schedule and I missed getting back in time. Other than that I have been home every time I needed it.

When I was OTR I always told my dispatcher 2 weeks in advance and reminded them every few days.
