Yeah, sorry, it is .26cpm. I just re-read the email from the recruiter, but forgot to go back and edit it.
I can't wait to work for Swift...

anyway, good luck in school - i'm set for the aug 27th in lewiston. -
Recruiters initials are R.L. based out of Phoenix.
If anybody else would have called back (and when i say 'called back' i am talking about either calling or e-mail. 'Calling back' in my terms, is contacting someone) I would have gone with them. If Schneider was really interested, or anybody for that matter, they would have looked at my online application and called back. Now granted, recruiter gets a bonus for every driver that makes it as a driver, but if there was a 'desperate' need for drivers, anybody I've applied at should have called back by now. I've applied at Schneider, Swift, Stephens Txport, Roehl all around the same time. Swift actually CALLED me within 5 minutes of clicking the "Submit" button. Do i really care if the guy gets a bonus? No. I care about learning what i need to learn, getting my CDL, working there for a year (maybe two) then going to haul cars. Heck, maybe I have to go to Werner or somewhere else for another year or two, before I haul cars. Heck, maybe i'll just p!ss all of you off, and become a trainer for Swift after 6 months.(not)

rubbergear and other swiffers,
I am looking at serveral co. (flatbed and van) including Swift. Swift rus a lot up hear (upstate ny) and I was curious about their NE regional hometime and terminals.
Could any of you current and past swiffers explain the quality of their terminals?
When you get to a terminal (daily/nightly?)
How often you get home (on weekends?)
How many hours hometime per week?
I am about 90 miles from a terminal (syracuse) and heard that if you are close to one you can get through the house instead. Feedback please? -
Hey Guys,
Got the call from Schneider start 16AUG in Carlisle PA, they unlike Swift & USX can read a MVR.
So swift is the winner. -
Good Luck to you. -

Saw that you were looking at the WIA route - and worried about approval taking a month or two.. shouldn't. From start to finish for me, it was less than two weeks - and that includes the items I had to go back and get..
Further, I understand your reasoning for hitting Swift.. at present, it sounds like one of those dreaded "no choice" issues, and those suck. I've never worked for them, but do know several who have, and none of them have anything good to say.
I'm curious, though. It's not clear to me whether you've made repeat calls to other carriers. Some seem to want you to make several attempts before they'll call you back. Maybe they want to be sure you are serious.
The ONLY company I applied to who called me back on first try was Watkins & Shephard up in Missoula. Every other company (including the one for whom I work today) took at least two calls / applications.
Oh - except Werner. They responded almost before I was done mailing my application. That was a safety net application, though, and doesn't really count, in my book.
They're still responding, too. I suppose I should take pity on that poor recruiter one of these days and tell him to take me off his listLast edited: Aug 1, 2008

I can understand companies wanting a possible student to call them back. Figure if i take the 10-15 minutes to fill out the application online, leave you an email and cell phone contact, the least you could do is take a minute or two, and call me back or email me. It just impressed me to get an email from the swift recruiter and then a phone call within 5 minutes of submiting the application. I am a guy who dont like to waste alot of time. Was kinda hoping to have been nearing the end of my training class, but seeing how $$$ was an issue, I had to wait till now.
I just bought all my supplies, i bought a LED MagLite, the 2-AAs sized one. It is probably just as bright as the big D-size regular bulb MagLite. So i am ready to go. If there is one slight hickup, i'll really look at staying here, going to the local community college and then getting on with someone right out of college.
