Sorry it didn't work out for you but what really happened?

Two weeks ago you got your first load or you've been solo for 40 days? You dropped the truck in their yard and got a rental or you called a cab and then got your wife to come get you?

Sorry, I don't mean to be rude but your posts don't add up. One way or another though, it didn't work out for you and that really is too bad. I guess it's better to find out sooner rather than later but I really wonder if you gave it a good enough try.

My apologies if I'm reading this wrong.

You didnt read it wrong, I worded it wrong. Between the last 2.5 weeks with my trainer, testing for my truck and the the time that I've had my truck, its been about 40 days, maybe 38..I'd have to get the calender out and add them up, but its about that. (And during that time I have only been home 2 days.)

Sorry this did not work out for you jimbo. It is not a life that everyone is able to handle. Sometimes guys (or gals) get into it, and just love it. But then something happens in their life, and they find they need to be home, instead of gone all the time. At least you don't have several years invested in the business before deciding it wasn't for you.

    Good luck!

I think you may have read too much into it.

He did mention the training phase. It's a given, most trainees don't go home during training. But most get a week or so, after training. So he has been out for awhile. With no extended break at home for his troubles.

The car and the taxi. Not sure there. I read he sent that message (car) via QC to his employer. Maybe I'm wrong.

It takes money and a credit card to rent a car. He admits they have been struggling.

Either way, he has a quit under a load on his DAC now. He may also have an abandonment on him. Since he dropped it in a drop yard, not a terminal.

Good luck to you.I also agree with some of the others that it was admirable for you to tell it like it was. I run dedicated and will usually stay out about 6 weeks. well, I use to. I stay out two weeks at a time and take 3 to 4 days off. Trucking isn't for everyone and I have much respect for a person that would come here on this forum and tell it like it is.

Sorry, I tend to jump on the wrong things now and then. I know the first couple of weeks were stressful enough for me even with being home each weekend and a few days between the training phase and heading out on my own. Add in no home time, horrible weather, flat tire and then to have home time taken away would have really sucked.

It sounds like you really do want to drive though. So best of luck to you and don't give up.

I wonder how many who don't last would if the companies just did a little more to help smooth things out at the start.

A lot of drivers would last. If companies really gave a ####.

Now there is even less incentive for them to care. Drivers are standing on each others shoulders, trying to get in the doors.

Either way Jim,good luck, least you know that family comes first...Truck driving is a B*%TH sometimes.. I run hot shot loads for the oil fields as I live in La. and own my own rig...[UM,NOT CHEAP]and one of those lil games our dispatcher plays is when you go TOS for a day or two, they call and say ''Hey buddy I got a run for ya'' ......Well....It only takes one or two times to refuse and they know not to call when you are off...LMAO:)
I do realize that my situation is different, point is it is a lot more difficult than most people give credit to truckers for!!I'd like to see the cry-babies pay for truck maint, tires, fuel,etc..And then wait up to 60 days for your money to return......I have children and wifey, and lemme tell ya,it takes everything I have to keep family happy,by the time I do get 2 days off,I am so tired,by the time I rested well.....Time to pound the pavement again...
