Great post and I agree 100%...and then some crappy receiving clerk tells you drivers are not allowed to use the bathroom. So there are still some wannabe kings and queens to deal with.

One of the few reasons to work for yourself in my book is exactly that, not having a boss who thinks you owe him for giving you a job. I hate that!

I came close at $2.45 per mile TTT on 77265 miles. $1.26 per mile profit before driver pay and I counted everything I could come up with for a deduction. I draw $1000 per week for driver pay. I was pretty happy with these numbers. I was out overnight 118 nights. Not too bad in my opinion. Formed a corporation this year to try and help out with taxes.

Not to be off topic but what are the tax advantages in having a Corporation?

For the biggest one I will pay ss tax on what I pay myself instead of self employment tax on all of it. Acct / business consultant says he can save me about $9000 per year. We shall see. He handles all of the books so I listen closely to what he has to say. I also have another $22000 per year in military retirement that has to be added to that.

The main thing is the ability to pay yourself partially via dividends versus all W2 wages. Lower tax rate on dividends.

I'm thinking he had to recite that in front of a mirror, washing his mouth out a few times, before getting used to it LOL.
