Why is my mpg lucky. i have worked hard to get to that. Nothing to do with luck, just hard work.
I have adverage 20,000 per year for the last for 5 years on parts and repairs, including all that you stated. 100000 for a 5 year period sounds reasonable. I am working to lower that by doing true preventive maintenance and do things better when I do for a goal of less cost for fuel and repairs in the out years. I purchase used equipment and upgrade the units. That is why my parts and repairs are high and I do not depreciate so I do nt get taxed on the sale of the equipment. I can take duductions for improvements. FYI i am currently driving a 1984 359 350 economy Cat 13 sp direct drive 3:55 rears. 2000 all aluminium mac trailer. I paid 20 grand at auction for both units in fall 2008.

T Jefferson on luck. The harder I work the more I have. Know your numbers! Be safe and good luck ie work hard and a drive business. Investigate and verify you will be suprised at the possibilties through preperation and education.

I'll stick to my $2.50+ freight. Maybe someday I will understand how to forget about replacing my equipment and half of my expenses so I can pretend I'm making money on $1.60/mile junk. oh, the possibilities !

Yeah you've lectured me on that among other things in the past. Where did I say I don't keep that separate, have you seen my accounts and checkbooks?? and why do you continually lecture me like a schoolboy I've been an owner almost 4 years now?.

Sure you should have business and personal accounts. However, the purpose of the truck is to pay your personal expenses. If you have $2000 of personal expenses, that $2000 MUST be added to your costs. If it costs $8000 per month to run the truck and $2000 to pay your household expenses, but the truck only covers the $8000 truck expense, the power company will be shutting off your electricity.

Because, as an exF2F driver, he thinks he got it all figured out how we all should be doing it.

Because if you truly ARE a business man, you would not put your household expense in as business expenses.

    Business 101.

But you seem to think it is part of your business.

The only part of your household budget that is part of your business is YOUR salary.

But hey, you are the one who's been doing this for 4 years.

It has nothing to do with being an EX F2F driver.

    It's business management.

But you should know that as well.
