One month doesn't make a trend but those Y/O/Y stats are ugly with Flatbed loads to truck down 35% and Van down 10% for same month

That is true, but you also have to remember that this is only showing DAT Loadboard info. Could be that flatbed loads are just not being posted on their service... it is not a true factor of the real world market, just of their load postings on their service.

Unless the receive has a rail terminal or is at the port, last time I checked a truck has to take the freight to their door.... just sayin'...

Next time your at a truck stop go hit the current loads button on the dat monitor. Every time I do there are many flatbed loads, I would say that their information for the most part is fairly accurate for spot/load board freight, contract freight is a different animal though. And LS always seems to have the majority of the open deck freight on the dat board at the truck stops.

    HwyPrsnr and SHC Thank this.

The leased drivers with the big outfits are more likely to operate as I stated, As a small independent I have been honored to hear " You are a little higher, but I know it will be done like we need it to" a proper mind set is paramount, as is the ability to do the math and understand the numbers. There is difference in being leased and being an contract carrier independent, but not always in the money you make, thats has to do with th math.

I've noticed all the LS loads on the DAT boards. I have actually written a couple down a few weeks ago and compared them. All of the loads were cheap and heavy and most likely why they were on the DAT board.

I just wonder how DAT gets their info, obviously IT'S and OOIDA is not sharing their load board info with DAT. But it is prob a good indication. All I know is that I disagree with the platform side being down the last few months. We have been very, very busy here at LS and it's getting even more crazy the last 2 weeks.
