How about what you paid in fuel total for last year?

 

114574 miles 15488.85 gal @ 3.78 per gallon = 58,517.29 or .51 per mile @ 7.39 mpg

 

Im confused, what does it matter if it's cheap freight or what, as long as you get paid to run?

The thing is...Every one runs different.....

If you have an older Dependable rig that is paid for....Never run In Cali or W/O of the "Big Creek"...Yeah...You can run for a "Buck a mile".....

However...If you are like me...Live in Cali...Run the Rockies and back every week....It costs more to run....

So my BEP is a lot higher than a Op that runs in the "Flat Lands".....

there is no such thing as absolute math. let's examine these numbers, you say parts and repairs is 0.17 @ 120000 miles gives you a budget of $20,400/year. You could easily exceed that with one repair, prolly spend 1/3 of that on one tire change. It's not enough, what about depreciation ? Don't you have to plan to replace your truck and trailer eventually. You are way, way low on this number. Most of us figure 0.20/mile just on depreciation, not even getting into repairs or tires.

fixed costs 0.08/mile ?? that's gotta be at least 0.05 just for insurance, if your insurance is cheap. plates, highway tax, and UCR gotta be over 0.03/mile. So what pays for IFTA tax, your computer, paper, supplies, tools, internet access, clothing, drug consortium, cell phone, cleaning supplies, hotels, meals, etc.... ? you're way off.

 

I ran Va - TX to Portland OR and returned to Al, IL ,TX and back to Va 7 times the 1st half of 2012 and Va - Tx - Va the last half. Did better on the long loads. Easier on me and the equipment.
