Huh?????
Doesn't make a bit of difference anymore. 3 point turns are common and I'm going on a 4 pointer for this run. I used to be out for 5-6 days. 10-12 days are the norm now. It could get better come spring we'll see.
I dont get it

If a driver is not willing to be flexible then you probably are not going to have much of a career in driving. Shoot, even local work is not cast in stone. If you are not willing to go with where the work is, then you need to find another type of work to do.
Working Class Patriot Thanks this. -
Thinking about the original poster here...
I had drivers, losing their homes, would not stay out more than five days... Stole trucks, abandoned them with loads, etc...
Well, they all lost their homes, divorced, etc...
Look, this is trucking! And I can say what I am about to say, BECAUSE I HAVE PAID MY DUES...
This industry is now becoming the land of desperation... Not good...
Not that it hasn't been, that is how I got here. After a nasty divorce and losing a promising nursing career from said ex wife's on the job harassment... Needed a roof and three squares after, after they raped me in the court house.
Brother, been there done that!
I know DESPERATION! But right now, trucking ain't going to solve none of your problems.
If you have kids or a wife, and are looking for work, go to McD's and then wander across the street to WalMart for that second job. If you have no home, no wife, no kids, and/or are living with mom and dad... Then trucking might just be your ball of wax. Trust me on that.
God have I been there and done that!
Mike
Kabar and 1pissedoffdriver Thank this. -
does anyone no if i need to wear my d.o.t. Approved jock strap in canada?
-
That sounds like me. Ive put in app's with several of the larger training companys and getting ready to join one. -
Look, my time in the military was easier than the crap I put up with in my first 4 to 5 years of trucking. And when I look back, I wish I would have stayed in the military. At least the money was better and I had my back covered.
Good luck Max, and I mean that. Just don't walk in to this with high expectations regarding time and pay, because you will be SORELY disappointed. Trust me on that.

This industry is now becoming the land of desperation... Not good...
THATS WHAT IT HAS BECOME...THIS IS WHY AT TIMES I GET SO ANGRY AT WHY THIS BUSINESS IS THE WAY IT IS....
THE LAND OF TOTAL LAST MEASURE DESPERATION.IT REALLY HAS BECOME JUST THAT....
THE CORPORATE FEEDS OFF THESE PEOPLE AND MANIPULATES THEM FROM THE 1ST PHONE CALL.
THEY SET UP RECRUITING STATIONS AT THE LOCAL PRISON(LOL),THE NUT WARDS,THE CRACK HOUSE,THE TRILER PARK(LOL),AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST THE DETOX WARDS,OFFERING 2ND CHANCES AT LIFE...
JUST GO TO A TRUCK STOP AND LOOK AROUND,AND SEE...IT WAS NOT LIKE THAT IN 1986 AND BEFORE,IT REALLY WASN'T.....

Bottom line: If you scrap the bottom of the barrel, you're gonna get the sludge.
These trucking companies that do so, will find out very soon that "You get what you pay for". -
there has to be a point on how low these mills will go to dig for sludge...there has to be a bottom at some point..
Once that nears they actually may give us guys with 20 years or more with alot of credentials and proven record some good stuff for once.but maybe not...
I do no they are dependent on this newbee group and love them to do there cheap ### labor....
They hate dealing with me,i can assure you when they are done trying to manipulate me they wanna run away fast after i give then a dose of reality and education....lmao

One doesn't last 20 years or better if they are "sludge".
