    It makes no difference if it is illegal for publicly held companies to engage in nepotism, or not.
    Southernboy_Dew was inquiring about Schneider which is not a publicly held company.
    It's owned entirely by the Schneider family.

    Based on what you've explained, if I were you, I'd run the idea of attending the community college to obtain a CDL-A by your present employer to get his take on the matter. If he agrees to put you in the 18-wheeler upon graduation I'd go that route.

    Keep in mind though, that driving a Big truck locally isn't a walk in the park. That's why most companies that run local require a year or two of OTR driving to gain experience.
    However, if you could work out a deal with the present driver of the 18-wheeler where you work to help train you once you've graduated, or possibly while you're still attending community college, I think that would be a win/win situation for you.

    tid bit of information for you about tennessee technology center of memphis.the course is a hell of lot more than 600.00 dollars..try 1162.00 total.it is a dam good school only take 15 students at a time.good insrtuctors and train u well.billy ingram is the head instructor along with virgil trent and jeff weaver.if u are a sensitive person dont go to this school because they will make u cry talking about your driving skills....ahahahaha but they are fun to learn from.i know because i just finished 8/25/08...hitting the road in 2 weeks.but you are applying in the wrong business if you dont want to go over the road you need to pay your dues and get that experience man.but i would highly reccomend that school and its a certified school also.
