Umm, no it's completely true. CHP has jurisdiction everywhere in California. They may refer a call to local or county cops but that doesn't change the fact that they have jurisdiction anywhere in California.

This could be completely legimate, and the OP could entirely believe every thing posted, but, have you considered schizophrenia? My son had a room mate that swore people were beraking into their home when my son was at work one night. This person called the police, and my son left work to come home. No one was found in or around the house. Things had been odd for a few weeks before, yet he believed him until the stories got stranger and stranger. It ended with my son taking the room mate to the hospital, and then to a hospital with a mental ward that would admit him and evaluate his friend. He ended up being admitted for a few weeks until the proper meds could be admistered, and then he was sent to a halfway house, where now he is doing great, and has apologized for his actions, and is on the way to becoming a regular person.

You never know what is going on in a persons mind. We all thought there was someone breaking into their house, as did the police, but it was all in his mind. It was as real to him as everday life is to us. Consider that with his background. This may have been his problem all along.

 

I wonder if we will ever find out what happend?

 

I'm not saying they don't have jurisdiction. Of course they have jurisdiction. Their name starts with "California". I'm saying they will not take care of it because there is a perfectly functional police department there. If you call the CHP about a robbery at Sunset and Vine they will transfer your call to the LAPD. This is not a CHiPs TV show.

I'm no psychiatrist, but I'm going to say you nailed it. Dude was self medicating with alcohol (he might not even have realized that's what he was doing) and now that he is sober, his underlying psychological condition it beginning to show in a more obvious fashion.

 

Maybe you need to read my post again. I never stated anything about the CHP handling a robbery or any other crime. I simply stated that the CHP has jurisdiction anywhere in California. There is nothing "half true" about that statement!
