If the light doesn't turn red before you clear the intersection it shouldn't be a problem.

You can brake to slow. But once you have slowed your new slower speed AND your old gear selection may or may not put your engine RPMs too low. If so, you downshift. Not many drivers are going to know the road speed & gear choice.

You failed the road test. Whether it was fairly or unfairly is beside the point unless 1) you plan on telling the next road examiner you were unfairly failed, and 2) you think telling the 2nd examiner this info will cause him to pass you on test #2. Nobody wants to hear why you did A, B, or C. Just do the right thing at each part of the test. The reason for an action is irrelevant.

I won’t tell them next time, but I’ll just be careful next time and turn off the signal after the turn has been completed and follow the speed limit! Thank you for your advice!

Hard to believe they failed you because going thru yellow light and turn signal and driving 25 in 35 zone. I remember my instructor telling us if you go thru yellow light, the truck and trailer need to be clear thru light before it turns red. Funny thing they told us if light turn red “you better stop, even if you have lockup the brakes” this was before ABS. Even and empty trailer today can lockup if you hit brakes hard. We did just that at first red light, tires were smoking and trailer bouncing. We looked at instructor. He said yup that what you do. Never go thru a red light.

I remember them telling me I was driving to slow and step on the pedal you got traffic behind you backed up. Ha ha they showed us videos of trucks rolling over and they made seem like they would roll over so easy so I was driving slow. The instructor was like step on the pedal let’s do the speed limit.

A lot of folks at the trucking companies that test new hires will have no problem with you rolling through a yellow light even when it turns red before going completely through, the safety guy at my own company was perfectly fine with me doing just that instead of breaking hard. But when it comes to getting your license, that is exactly what you got to do as you have learned.

When I was at Swift in 2011, my trainer told me if you have to brace yourself in your seat while going around a curve, then you're going too fast.

I don't know if it was the most accurate advice, but I often still think about it while going around curves.

I started at Swift in 2010. My mentor did not tell me that, but it is good advice in a truck.

In my car I like to take the curves a bit faster, because my old car handles pretty good. It does require a bit of bracing and a little more control with the wheel.
In the truck, with or without a trailer, not so much.
High center of gravity, no real grip on the drive tires, a trailer that likes to pull you down with it... nope. Speed Racer was NOT a truck driver, and never will be.

I failed my test as well but now I know just to turn on the AC instead of taking off my pants during the test. For the record, no one has ever mentioned you can’t pass if you’re not wearing pants. Life is such BS.

That’s a bummer… I went into a residential neighborhood during the road test… watched tree branches fall down as I was driving lol I passed since instructor knew the area worse than I did I guess, and I’ve never been in that neighborhood before in my life.

In the real world of truck driving, depending on when that light turned yellow depends on whether you stop for it or not. If it means slamming on the brakes, leaving black skid marks and white rubber smoke lofting into the cab while the road test examiner is peeling herself off the dash and windshield then yeah you should have stopped for it.
