:mhissyfit:, dont beat yourself up! sometings happen for a reason, maybe the trainer you would have gotting if passed, would have been a nightmare, and next time you will pass, and get the right trainer

Be careful about turning on 4 ways, or answering with that.
Turning them on while pulling a hill is not only a bad idea but in many states if you are moving it is illegal to have them on.
Going up a hill you wish you had a big Cat engine and going down you kick it outta gear to make up for lost time! just kidding.....

I passed my Cdl yesterday but talking about kicking it outta gear my son was training a guy that was supposed to know what he was doing and he kicked it outta gear o a downhill. my son about pooped his pants then called his boss and took the guy back to the yard (5 days in) this guy also stalled the truck 25 times in a parking lot and too many other issued to get into here.

You will do fine next time, most of it is just nerves. Having to wait so long is the crappy part. Stay focused, stay positive and you will pull through, alot of us have been there. Learn from your mistakes is all you can do. Good luck

The guy riding with me during my driving test had an interesting approach. He talked the entire time I was driving, about subjects OTHER than trucks or driving one. All he did was ask me questions about my life, told me about his, kids, etc.

Then when we pulled in, he said I passed. I guess he wanted to see how I did driving while being semi-distracted with a conversation about life?

That was 9 years ago now, and it's easy to say, but simply relax and be confident.

My tester did the same thing - asked me about previous work, told me about his... anything except truck- or driving-related topics.

At the time, I too thought it was a distraction, but I later thought he was trying in his own way to put me at ease because I was nervous. You know how they say, "don't think about it so much - just do it." His conversation helped me do that.

And now I think back on it and think... that was pretty cool.

Until you get use to it, just remember it's better to take a turn too wide than curb the tire. You'll get chewed for too big a pinhook, but it's not a failing mark.

I'm pretty sure the lady was looking for use the same gear up and down the hill. Something like that is in your manual. The flasher thing is a state by state basis and basically you turn them on when you are below the interstates minimum speed as common sense, not law. Most interstates are 45, but some are 50 too. Only a handful of states have signs posted which is law.

I went to a very good school and the instructors that test are tougher than the DMV. We were drilled, amongst other things, that if you rub or tough a curb, even those that are designed to be run over, it is an automatic fail, unless you notify the tester that you will before you do, they have the discretion to make it a 6 point deduction.

I did that, missed one step on the mountian/hills part and one thing on the pre-trip, so I passed.
