A lawyer could not help him. In America it is 100% legal to fire someone for any reason except for a few protected categories such as for one's race, gender, religion, etc. So in America, it is 100% legal to fire someone for something that they didn't do. I know because I used to be a paralegal.

    Apparently you missed something.

They can fire you for anything you did but not for something someone else did. In this case if they list it as him being the one to cause the damage it is indeed wrongfully termination. If they list it as he didn't complete a proper inspection and didn't find the damage before hand they are legal.
What you are basically saying is that if you sexually harass that female driver, they can fire me for it. Not true, not legal and grounds for a lawsuit.

@50WT and @TripleSix Are on target. The x company knows you didn't do this. They know who did and for whatever reasons they are covering his tail. I am sure it was not easy to pin it on you , but you can hold your head high still , knowing you are innocent and that everyone involved also knows. As everyone just about has said when one door closes other even better doors open. Just be prepared and don't elaborate too much, but stay an honest good person that you are. Keep your eyes open and know your own worth. And Thank You for being a Driver and making these roads safer for everyone.

That only works if you're a four-wheeler trying to sue a trucking company or an OEM.

Question if you are wrongfully terminated (just for conversation sake) and you land a better position fairly quickly because you’re not a quitter then do you still sue? Or send a thank you letter?

Depends on you and how good that letter will make you feel compared to the possible payout.

Usually, it’s the owner’s loser son-in-law. The loser son gets a desk job. The loser SIL will be in a truck. They are attempting to hide him from the insurance company.

Could be any of hundreds of scenarios but yes , something like that. Also most likely would get a pass from the legal system if they feel secure enough to do that much.
