Or be an adult. You have a brand new job in a brand new industry with a brand new carrer.

I am very sorry for your loss. I know i took the loss of my grand parents very hard, but sometimes as an adult you have to make the hard call. (I have missed Christmas among other important & memorable dates)

If you bail on a job when less than a couple months in, you are telling them you don’t care about them, why should they then care about you?

What should have happened is you asked 3 days off. One to fly home, one for the funeral, and one to fly back. Remember that grandparents are not immediate family.

It’s not on your dac, so don’t sweat it. As for Swift internally, you burnt that bridge.

He wants to go back to Swift. I'm guessing it didn't work out for him. Either that,or Swift wants their schooling money back.

i hope you get the job back. but seriously, you claim to have a fiance? and you take orders from your dad about going to a funeral? what is that saying to your fiance about you being a grown up man, soon to be married man..???

gotta stand up man, gotta stand up, and say you just can't make it. what's next, your dad orders you to Thanksgiving dinner, and you must show up? good luck in this industry.

gotta think whats more important, if your dad or mom died, THAT WOULD BE DIFFERENT, YOU MUST GO HOME, but a grand parent, or aunt, uncle, you could just go to a memorial service at a later time. many people miss out on many things, and they ain't even truck drivers.

Tell them it’s another BSchill they are thinking about. Probably two or three with that name that have abandoned a truck.

Well, after reading how Swift handled the situation, I read you wish to go back? What, my friend, is wrong with you? Hit your head on a low bridge, or something?

Well first of all sorry to hear about your Grand fathers passing that would be stressful, did you actually get permission from Swift to take bereavement leave? Was it possible to both take a load and go to your Grandfathers service? I know i've done that before where i was given a load and had an important meeting to go to, i didn't ask permission i just went along the way after the meeting was over i high tailed it outta there and drove none stop to my destination i had to get to LA by early the next morning I was pushing it but i got the job done on time. And that's in the end what they look at, however had i missed my time slot and got delayed boy would i of been in the bad books.

    EXACTLY what I was thinking.

Nearly word for word. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks this way.
