I actually did that with the company I retired from. they were going from warehouse only to having drivers deliver our product. but the guys driving were new CDL holders driving local.

I come in with 25 yrs OTR and get hired by the corp. office in Ohio.

I sign the papers do a test drive with the corp manager and get my credit cards and keys

he says OK go around and pick an empty and we'll load you for a Nashville turn around. I go out back and 1/2 hour later come back around front and say there wasn't a trailer I would hit the street with. the #### hit the fan real fast. I drive him around back in my tractor and show him flat tires, NO tires, no lights, ect.

he says come back Monday, we'll pay you rest of week. OK

he fired the local guys and hired a company to do maintenance on the truck and trailers.

after that I had to do all road tests for new hires. lol what a pain!.

but we ended up having a small ,6, of good tractors and 10 trailers to load our paper loads.

worked there for 10 yrs after that.

Dang you guys are all awesome! But sheesh why couldn't y'all just say to take it?! Now I have to ponder all weekend, am I making the right choices? What should I do? Do I want to live in a shipping container for free and hope some guy doesn't try to trap me at his company by giving me crappy equipment? Am I even human?

Go apply at Clark, or knight, or pride. Any of the places that Chinatown sent today. All way better than that place.
