Actually, it is the officers discretion as to a impaired charge. Cell phone and texting CAN impair your judgment and driving. Most of the time they charge with careless though. I know enough OPP and RCMP (current and retired) to have a really good idea of what they look for and how they can charge.

I received a speeding ticket after 25 years of a clean record. I hired an attorney for $89.00 and my ticket was dismissed in court. The court fee is $200. I start my cdl school next month. I guess I was lucky.

Think of this in real world terms.
Let's say that Judge came to your (fictional) place of business, and had a new set of tires put on. The wrong size.
And you offered to "dismiss" the cost of the tires. If he paid the cost of labor, priced at twice the cost of the tires.
And he had to pay the "professional" handler (aka lawyer) fees, for putting his old ones back on.
While I'm not a fan of Al or Jesse. This is one thing he (whichever said it) got correct.
There ain't no justice. It's just us. -
The last couple times I have received tickets I have either went to the DA, Mayor,
or someone in a top position in the town or county.
Each time they were reduced to a non moving violation thus not going on my MVR
or putting points on it. I still had to pay what the ticket would have cost just didn't
have it affect my record.
It's all about the money, if you got it they want it and will help you as long as they
still get their's. -
I have never had a ticket of any kind it's not hard.
