Doesn't the truck have to "move" to do the alignment brake check? That's what I was taught in school.

Stand firm and the law work. If more drivers start standing up for themselves, we could get more done.

As for myself, I was injured for no good reason while at Oakley Transport. they did not need my help with a local run. I filed a lawsuit against those buzzards 2 years ago. I injured my leg and still can't walk straight. I am able to work, I just can't move quickly.

If I didn't know better, I'd say you worked for Heartless Express, Knight Transportation or CR England!!!

    You are correct.

I have had idiotic stuff happen to me as well. I was told that many companies hire drivers without much education about the laws, regulations and company policies. I did not believe this for a long time, however, it seems there may some truth to the matter....

I have had this discussion with many an ICC rep or DOT Officer. The 15 minutes comes from the minimum log book entry. The DOT prefers drivers to log 30 minutes (once a day). All other entries to be flagged.

Company policy dictates when to log or flag an inspection.

The situation you described sounds precisely like an individual under duress. She did not know how to handle the problem and lashed out at the driver involved. something like this happens every day out here.

As for the logbook issue, I have had this discussion (and similar ones) with many an ICC rep or DOT Officer. The 15 minutes comes from the minimum log book entry. The DOT prefers drivers to log 30 minutes (once a day). All other entries to be flagged.

Company policy dictates when to log or flag an inspection.

companies hire whomever applies, they don't actively search out drivers with little education. it's about meat in the seat, the industry itself leads people towards not knowing much about regulations.

The one's that have posted about the laws on Pre and post not mandated are correct, As they prefer a 15 min Pre-trip, you only need to flag the post, I have had pre-trips don't on E-log with in 7 1/2 min. and not been in violation, The OP didn't need to do 15 min for both Pre and Post

I'M new to trucking spent 29 years in the Mechanical trade. First SAFETY!!!!!!! I'm responsible to provide a safe working tractor trailer, provide safe working tractor trailer for those traveling in 4 wheeler, provide safe tractor trailer to be able return home safely to my family SAFETY FIRST anything short of that will be my last day simple as that. As PRIME says this is the new face of trucking. I'm not a Prime employee the slogan sounds good. Let me repeat again to some of the older rookies, and veterans SAFETY FIRST.
