Did she have to pay some backpay. Or did you try to win your job back? Or was she suing you for the melted(seized engine)? That her boyfriend actually melted.
I got fired, what should I do for a reference?

To answer your question. List an employer who fired you. List it as being fired for a personality conflict. Your doctor advised you to quit as your body only needs on a s s ho le.
Everyone who has work for anyone before either quit or got fired. You are looking for a new job for a reason. Employers need employees. Tell the truth. They are only interested in proving to the Department of Homeland Security and the DOT that they did a background check on you.silverdrifter Thanks this. -
Unemployment is something you receive after you pay into it... it's like insurance, in a fashion. You can use it without being a "leech on society", but there does come a point where it gets abused. I've taken unemployment compensation for short periods before, and I've paid into it my entire working life, so you can blow it out your rectum if you think I'm going to feel ashamed for having used it.
That aside, enough with the cliffhanger already... OP - GIVE US THE STORY!DriveItUSA Thanks this. -
you list the job (especially if it's the only job in that field that shows you have experience), and on future apps, put "do not contact" or if it asks permission to contact, say "no". if they ask why, simply put "will discuss in interview", and then explain your side of the story.
besides, all employers can do nowadays is verify your start date, end date, rate of pay, and if they would rehire you or not. anything else is considered defamatory and/or slanderous/libelous.
now if you have other experience, and you absolutely dont want to list them...then just put your were unemployed for that time period, however if it's a job that has a DAC report and keeps your CSA scores...well you can forget about not listing it, because when the company runs your DAC, it's going to show up and they'll ask you why you didn't list that job. -
Any time that you falsify a job application, you are leaving yourself open to be fired, if it ever comes to light. Also, if the prospective employer finds out you lied prior to being hired, it will DQ you.
You have been told how to handle it. But it is up to you if you will do it that way or not.Moving Forward, DriveItUSA and truckon Thank this. -

well the way I view this is simply........."You were fired for asking for a raise to your employer that is sleeping with a friend that "f"ed up and "melted" an engine, you sued for unemployment, job gap 3 years, getting a buddy to lie by saying you worked for him and your a model employee.....WOW, dude....perhaps it's my investigative skills from being in law enforcement for 15 yrs, but in the field of LEO we call this a clue. Grand Papie always said "if walked like a duck and quacked like a duck it was probably a duck"......
Here's the problem, EVERY employer has one central need.....Employee's! Period.....They are looking for HONEST or some just breathing, bodies. If you were indeed fired then so put it down. they do not have to know the reason why. It was a personal issue that went wrong. The truth of this story as being told will leave anyone to believe there is more to it and therefore raise red flags with an potential employer. You are best to just list as "do not contact" explain that it was for personal reason and you wish not to disclose. They only care about your ethics and dependability. If you lie on your app you have proven to suck at both.. They will find it out. Most larger companies now use PTI, an investigative background search company that provides detailed info to other companies . They are good at what they do. It saves the potential hiring company time and money to out source paperwork such as fingerprinting, backgrounds, DOT, MVR, DAC's and so on....
My advice......BE honest, Be Real and Be humble.......If you messed up then who cares....................Moving Forward Thanks this. -
Everyone forgets its not only what a potential employer can ask but what a past employer can tell without being asked that has a negative result in gaining employment.
