One of the reasons you still have a job is your attitude toward what happened. You didn't snivel, or whine, or try to shift the blame anywhere but where it belonged.
Believe me, the company pays close attention to that.
You did it right.
And as a side note...an old logger friend of mine said that "you're not really stuck until they have to disassemble the whole rig and carry it out in pieces".
