There are quite a few other companies out there that hire new drivers. Browse the threads and read up on them. He'll find a company. Why did they say he couldn't work for CRST?

Apparently, all the things in his past that he told the truth about on his first application before the school was not good enough once he completed the school. He wasn't real clear on the actual reason but did say the woman he was interviewed by was really mean (I'm being nice here) and would not let him explain anything. I understand that all companies have rules but why didn't they take care of this stuff before he racked up all the schooling costs they will charge him for now. Then ship him off over 1300 miles from home and strand him on a street corner. Those people aren't right in the head!!

School is definitely different than company. Obviously it works that way with the company schools as well as the independant schools. How far back in his past?
-
15 years and all charges were dropped.

OK, then I don't see an issue there, especially with all charges dropped. There are plenty of other companies out there, and he will find one. Tell him not to give up!

Kool Kid, my experience with CRST Van was a nightmare! First, my 28 day trainer was close to my age, 50, and seemed nice the first week, then the next week, after a couple of breakdowns (O/O) he got mad # me & treated me nasty. Then I got my codriver, a ####y, arrogant, lazy 32 yr.old. I have driven straight truck, as well as a car for longer than he was old! Well our first trip was from SC to NY, JFK airport. I had already driven from SC to NY/JFK, so my hours were up, not to mention the truck was a sty! This guy then proceeded to not follow signs, qualcomm, dispatcher or my direction and went wrong way! (All directions matched by the way & I stayed up to help!) Well, we finally got to NJ, to pick up a load. I told him to make sure they didn't overload us. After a screamfest, I withdrew and went to sleep. Well, you guessed it they overloaded us, so he drove us to PA line and I had to turn us around and return to shipper to have load lightened, then drive on from there. Not to mention I had to dock truck for him in NJ and wound up having to drive part of his shift many times for 4 weeks straight, he wouldn't drive # night, in rain, but a screamfest would ensue if I stopped in heavy fog, ice, or to use a toilet! Dispatch knew about these events because I wrote them down & turned it in to Safety div., called it in to dispatch, & of course CYA'ed myself by documentation. At hometime after that, I sat home, called in daily awaiting new codriver, I was terminated. Then I had to hire lawyer to stop harrassment from their collection agency over driving school $$. He made $1,100 p. wk., and I made $160- $235 p. wk., & drove the most miles, and still got terminated?! Well, according to the contract, the driving school was paid off (they terminated me # their discretion without just cause) because they had no other codriver that lived within 50 miles of me. But now, 2 yrs later, still can't get another driving job! Have to find another $1,000 to hire an attorney for this! I will never drive for CRST again, and I have driven for 2 local outfits since but laid off due to economy. Signed on because I was # driving school & threatened to be left in BFE unless I signed on with CRST! My lawyer says that whole contract can be declared null & void, under duress. Also know of another driver who got screwed over by CRST!
Don't sign on with anyone until you research them 1st!!! -
been with CRST for while. Finished my contract with them. Recently ive been getting above decent miles but only because the holiday season is around. Not sure if they will provide near the miles im getting right now in Jan and Feb witch is the slowest months for the industry. If you stick it out it can open doors for you. Just try not to complain too much in any company.

crst a frigin joke done my 28 days and they sent me home because i got a ticket in a small town of la joya texas 40 in a 30 and they released me saying i was un safe driver funny thing is i havent even pled guilty to the ticket yet there are people still working there that have 2 rearend collisions but im un safe

Not every company can make every driver happy CRST only pays to have the trucks wash every 3 months so they due tend to be a little dirty on the outside. I have no real complaints other than that as of yet.
