When I had to double back to Fayetteville, TN to drop off the missing part of their load, I went down US41A west of Monteagle. That was fun....wore out Thanks this.

My dad who was a high-lead logging truck driver, my mom who drives a school bus and my guy who does long haul all say the same thing over and over again. Whatever gear your truck is able to go UP a steep grade in, is the same gear you should be going DOWN the steep grade in. In BC we see lots of trucks crumpled up in the ditch - often excessive speed is a factor.

I just came out of Tennessee it wasn't too bad yea I'm usually in 9th gear I keep it around 40-45 going down

just remember you are the captain of your ship

I cant think of anywhere in mass or maine you might need a ramp

Nope no ramps needed just caution

Come out West and drive for a while, when you get back home those "mountains" will look like mole hills lol.
Seriously though, these guys are right, just go the speed you are comfortable with and don't let any of those super truckers push you.
Out here in the West the old timers will tell you that you can go down the mountain too slow as many times as you want but you can only go down too fast once!Joetro and 27butterfly Thank this. -
Hahaja I've heard about them and yea I held my ground on the last set I just came across I'm dealing with a new issue now and that's backing under a trailer that's too low smh
