I'll look into another DOT doctor to give me a proper diagnosis when i go to a more lax company because I never had sleep issues in my life
They used their own sleep study Center and refused to take outside sleep Center results and DOT cards from outside areas and I dont trust that because they might have some back deal going on with their personal sleep study center to force more people onto the CPAP and make money since we are charged full for the device and they dont accept Insurance for it.
Its quite sketchy really
I hate the CPAP

Forgive my ignorance on this subject but how do they monitor your usage? What if you turned it on at night and left it besides the bed? How do they know whether you are wearing it or not?
-
They have a modem in the device that sends usage data to them.
Not sure if they can tell if I'm wearing it on my face or notLast edited: Jan 12, 2017

No offense but I know multiple people with apnea. They all say they don't need it. Guess what... they don't. Ya know why? They don't drive a 80000 lb vehicle. Shut up and do your dilligence or flip burgers. I've been tested and so have you. I don't have apnea, you DO.
-
What if you used it during the day when you aren't sleeping?
I was issued a CPAP but my company said return it because i was borderline. The lady that explained it to me said that the machine can detect of you aren't using it or trying to fool it. I.e. just turning it on and not wearing it or putting it on a potato.
She did say potato. -
We will see about that
I'll let the DOT sleep study area I go to on my own be the judge of that and not some shifty DOT sleep study center that is forced on me by Prime.
I dont trust a place who the company forces us to go to that happens to be on their property to boot.
That's too shifty.
Lol
You can use it at any time.Last edited: Jan 12, 2017

swervyjoe Thanks this. -
So when they fall asleep driving home in there 2002 Kia and plow threw a group of kids it's ok? They didn't need CPAP a Kia don't weigh 80,000 pounds. No offense but that has to be one of the most illogical responses on this site.
AnotherObserver I feel for ya man find a better company. That lets you go to a real Dr for a physicalBlackshack46, swervyjoe, HotH2o and 1 other person Thank this. -
And for another matter does anyone one have and can show proof of a driver crashing due exclusively to sleep apenia?? The way one person sleeps might be totally different then another does that make them more dangerous? Or does it make forcing what is considered the "norm" on to everyone more dangerous?
Sure sleep apnea exists I'm not debating that. But just because your a heavy set guy automatically you go for sleep apnea test. Now who wins? The Doc that's who he has ya and he knows it if you got it or not guess what you got it or you ain't got a job!
FMCSA makes all these rules docs have to be approved and go threw testing and be certified to give the examine and they won't accept anything but a certified examiner. Ok well then rule number one should be no company should be allowed to employ there own in house dr requiring all drivers to test threw in house dr.AnotherObserver Thanks this.
