I have been at this for 20 years but only on my own for 6....so I have a semi OK idea of what things should be.....but I need to hear it on this one! LOL.
I hate to bug you guys...

Up front in the middle near the leveling valve. And this is a 1988 Peterbilt 362 cabover in mint condition if that helps....heck the only wires on the truck are lights! LOL.Itsbrokeagain, Ruthless, Brettj3876 and 2 others Thank this.

Ok, that could have been really time consuming. But it does sound rather excessive. I can't see more than them billing you and hour for the hoses, even though it probably only took a half hour. So 4 hours to find the wire seems to be a stretch. But I could be wrong.... -
They had me at 18 hours @ $107.00 per hour plus 250 for the leveling valve. The owner said he had a kid looking for that broken wire for 5 hours! The bill was 2444.00 until I threw a friggin fit bad! (And I have never done that before ever! I was ready to fight!). He lowered it to $1796.16.
I am just trying to decide whether or not I should feel bad. I am for sure not trying to get out of paying anyone ever.....not how I roll. But this one hit me in the nuts hard.Last edited: Dec 21, 2020
Itsbrokeagain, God prefers Diesels, black_dog106 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Plus I lost a Saturday (not a lot of loads but sometimes!) and today (lost a load for sure!) all because they didn't friggin call me and tell me it was ready!
God prefers Diesels and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
I was gonna ballpark about 10-12 hours on that.
-The 5 hours you already mentioned.
-About 3 for the wheel seals.
-1 hour for the pinion seal (assuming u-joint co-operated).
-1 hour for the leveling valve.God prefers Diesels, Sirscrapntruckalot and Mattflat362 Thank this. -
Bear in mind axle shafts can be a b###h to knock out sometimes and u-joints can seize in there solid too. The 10-12 hour figure was assuming everything came apart relatively smoothly. I have had some u-joints take close to 2 hours to get out if they're really locked in the yoke.
God prefers Diesels and Mattflat362 Thank this. -
I genuinely appreciate this guys...I am not sure if I should send them all pizza tomorrow or forget they exist forever. I don't like getting the way I did today....not healthy...I was ready to throw down bad.
$2444.00 for that stuff knocked me to the floor. -
5hrs for the wire on that truck tells me they had no schematics plus little to no experience with basic electrical. Then 13hrs for the rest is probably pushing the upper end of the time margin. The thing that gets me is they didnt call to let you know the thing was ready.........God prefers Diesels and Mattflat362 Thank this.

I can repair electrical, but finding breaks and shorts? I'll let someone else do it.lester Thanks this.
