I’m not a mechanic, but an O/O. I think they charged you accordingly. Drums may have been $350, depending , air lines could be $30-$100. Shoes/seals another $200-$300. Fluid $100 Labor. It all adds up. They don’t shop prices on parts, usually use a Local place for convienence. Even filling the differential takes time. It all adds up. I had shoes, 4 drums, one wheel seal done on my Trailer at a good Local Trailer shop. Same one everyone uses. The bill was $2100. Never again. By the way, Nice Tuck,it’s worth keeping up.
I hate to bug you guys...

No matter what I feel bad here..... but I can't imagine for the life of me spending 5 hours tracking down a friggin broken tail light wire.....which was the real culprit on this bill. I have fixed many many myself with power probes and test lights and not one has ever ever taken even close to 2 hours.....almost always minutes! And I suck and move slow! At what point as a shop owner do you say hey maybe I sent the wrong tech under the truck and not hit the customer with a $535.00 broken wire charge!!? Honest question here!

You got ripped royally. Five hours to find a broken wire. The wire could have been replaced front to rear at a fraction of that. $250 for a leveling valve. It better have gold plated internals.

Let me check a few things. I’ll give you a number. Brakes on only one axle? Is the truck rusty or clean?

What is stacking repairs? I’ve never heard the term.
Wise to get an estimate.
I’m no shop. The parts prices seem high to me but I don’t buy many parts. Especially brakes and drums.
I do all the repairs I can. I don’t like shop prices. I especially don’t like the brain dead they have working on trucks.
My last shop visit. Diagnosis was number 6 injector was dead. It turned out to be number 1. For $1867 they would replace the no.6 injector. Additional parts and labor not included. Dream on.
I bought 6 injectors for $1300 and put them in myself. Injector no.1 had broken o-rings.blairandgretchen, God prefers Diesels, wore out and 1 other person Thank this.
