Colton CA W-M DC waiting for tomato inspection...........yeah.......awesome place to sit. Every driver on our fleet has a horror story of that place. At least I got to idle. ROFL. lil security guard came around and said no idling. I rolled the window down and said......I've been sitting here 7 hours, it's 112 degrees and I have menapause. Would you like to experience my hormonal rants? He said and I quote "oh, well okay just don't tell anyone I said you could idle" and the drove away on his golf cart.

    I'm menapausal..........fear me. :biggrin_2556:

Nana...I love it when you tell it like it is.I'm laughin so hard i can hardly type. I pulled in to a Tyson plant one time and one time only. I had a load of 6" I beam for an expansion of one of their buildings. I was 30 lb short of 40K but the load was legal. Security guard treated me like I was some kind of evil criminal...told me ta take my pile of #$%^ and park..they would let me know when they were ready for it. My company rule was to allow the receiver two hours to start unloading or call dispatch which I did after 115 minutes. I got the usual "be patient" answer so 30 minutes later I went back to talk to security...different gut this time picks up the phone and mumbles back and forth with someone..Hangs up and tells me it's gonna be awhile or at least 4 or 5 hours!! I went a little nuts and stormed back to my truck. Called dispatch and told him we were looking at at least 8 to 10 more hours. He starts hollering and moaning and tells me to wait for a qualcom. after about 10 minutes I see 3 Giant fork trucks rolling out an overhead door way in the back. They zipped out an exit and ran around the outside of the fenced parking lot, didn't even slow down at the security gate and the lead driver pulls up to my door. He jumped out and ran over to my window...tells me to put my front bumper right behind his *## and stay there. S0000 I did. We went past the guard gate going 20+ mph getting lots of nasty looks and I saw the last fork driver wave a number one. I found out later my dispatcher called the construction company that ordered the steel about what was going on and they told him they would take care of it. They had me untarped, unchained, unloaded and driving out in less than 30 minutes..even helped me fold tarps and put everything away. It was my sole experience with a Tyson stop but I promised myself it would be the last. I wonder if I threatened going menopausal it would help?:biggrin_25513:

    Ahhh.
The differance between Reefer and Flat is shown again.
My guess is that the company that ordered the steel did not even know you were there, and would not have till a shift change, or if they saw you sitting there.

Well we haul from Tyson and really don't have a lot of problems....I think they are skeered of us. :biggrin_25524:

It could be due to the fact my partner has lifted several things from several plants, got a chicken clock, knives that say Tyson, a couple of hats, chicken in outfit and the squishy stress chickens or maybe it was that one time when they really pissed her off in AR.

Never ever get on her wrong side and call her anything but a lady. She dropped the trailer, king pinned as well....couldn't move the sucker and proceed to Corporate headquarters, I wake up about the time she is turning into Corporate. Tells me she is going to see John Tyson and he'd best be in. Not dealing with this Mickey Mouse outfit anymore. Don't tell her she can't park the rig out front either. Security calls John Tyson to the lobby and him and her have a discussion about how she was treated and if the Mickey Mouse outfit he is running can't keep an appointment when we arrive on time then they shouldn't even make appointments. :biggrin_2556: She also told him she was pretty sure he was going to faint when they saw what she was billing for detention time. After that time we've really never had a whole lot of problem of course we rarely ever pull their product too. :biggrin_25523: :biggrin_25523:

Now the place we won't go to is Ken's Foods....did that once and never ever again. :biggrin_25513:

I hauled out of Tyson in Rogers AR every week for almost 2 years on a dedicated multi drop NYC load. Never had a problem except for 1 time when there was a bad storm and shut the place down. Not a problem as I called my customers and let them know and just delivered when I got there.

this sounds too good to be true. How did she even know where HQ was? I assume you mustve been fairly near it in the first place?

I haul alot of Tyson. Most of our loads are drop/hook. They usually have a 24 hr PU window to avoid detention. I usually plan on the load coming out at the last second and don't go to the plant until then. I'll call and check on the status of the load. They make the delivery appt times and expect you to run all night with no regards to what you did that day.

Many times I'm given 30 hrs to run 1200 miles. Which legally it can be done. But what about them five drops when I get there?? :biggrin_25518:
You either do it or they'll find someone that will. I'm use to it now. I'll usually run most of it the 1st day and get up after 3-6 hrs sleep and finish the load out. Works for me.

Well, this thread has convinced me to avoid Reefer like the black plague. And I'm too lazy for flatbed. Considered it once, but nahh...Guess I'll stick with low-paying drybox when I decide to come back out and play.
