You keep running #### over and you'll be bankrupt in very short order.

Are the accidents recorded? Like at my job everything is an accident…, but they don’t actually count. I probably have a dozen “accidents”.

I hit an eagle, deer, and I think a swan.
    that’s three accidents.

I got stuck at a receiver dock door due to being a non paved dock. That’s another.

I was driving on a main road in Florida 100% on the pavement and took out a power line, which then tore down the pole. That’s another accident, though not legally my responsibility

they’re not recordable they’re not on my psp; not sure about dac but I’m pretty sure no one knows other than me and aaa cooper

ONLY DOT recordable accidents are added to the FMCSA mandated accident register. This is because these accidents are the only ones recognized by the DOT/FMCSA. Everything else is up to the Carrier and/or their Insurance company to define. Accidents and Preventable Accidents are what they are. Before my health got bad I was spending a lot of time talking to drivers. One thing I have constantly said time and time again is, STOP fearing the safety dept. Not long ago I was speaking to a driver who was scared to death of going west in the wintertime because he did not know how to chain. I told him to get trained EVEN if you have to get safety involved. If you keep getting hits on HOS, go speak to safety. If Operations is giving you hell CALL safety. One thing I have noticed is drivers that have "issues" have a common problem with fearing safety.

A carrier safety dept has ONLY ONE JOB! To protect that carrier's Operating Authority. They are NOT there to be your friend. That safety man is NOT your bud! They are also not there to blow sunshine up your butt. Most safety people I know will bend over backward to help a driver IF said driver will just ask BEFORE they (redacted) up. Safety has a vested interest in you succeeding as a driver! I know a lot of both now retired as well as still working safety critters. To a person the two aspects of their jobs they hated the most are having to fire a driver, and having to disqualify a driver because of a positive drug test.

Good post, but let's call a spade a spade. People fear the safety dept. because they are the ones they answer to when they screw up. I was ALWAYS in trouble with safety for my, um, unethical logbook entries. Like talking to a cop, or any authority, some folks can't do it. I pretty much got along with all my safety people, only because, I thought I was better than them, and their job swapping told me, it's merely a job to them, and when something better comes along, whoosh. I remember a couple safety dudes in a year sometimes. I tend to disagree, it was the boss who told you to "run", ( and actually make money) compliance was the one that pulled the plug on that, and I'd be pixxed too. Don't tell ME how to run, you pencil pushing so and so,,,:bootyshake:,,,oh, the good ol' days,,,
