There are truck dealers like 5000 down 1000 a month 250 a week I think that's doable not leased to a company screw tht pay a broker tht knows what there doing who won't run you for less than 2.20 a mile with at least a 3$ pm load a week long haul u will probably need ur own trailer to don't lease one you'll be forced to haul for them finance I'd get a 40g loan put 7000$ down buy a 20,000 rig Columbia or century that gets good mpg buy a reefer or w.e cash pref under 8,900$ and now you have one bill and $ to back you up I know I'm a dreamer

Somebody in here said that ALL companies charge you to pull their trailers..that is simply not the case..I know two off the top of my head that don't..JCT is one..Prime is another..

Of the two companies to lease on to..it would be John Christner trucking...more per mile..good fuel surcharge program, they pay permists..you pay plates and it is possible to make money with them..even now..they adjust the fuel surchage weekly based on national average..While I was leased on to them it got up as high as .28 cpm fuel surcharge in 06...they guarantee fuel price of 1.25 per gallon..period.

They have their own contracts..always book more freight than they have trucks to keep their trucks rolling..and the extras left over are brokered out so independents can also get loads through them..lots of running I70 and south..

I was running cali back to oklahoma where I lived at the time 5 weeks out of six..and seldom if ever went past the big river..

I grossed 165k my last year driving..net was around 60k watching my fuel and maintenance. That ain't bad at all for leasing onto a company. There are guys out there with their own authority that were making more sure..

Own authority is also a lot of financial exposure..and with a wife and kids a the time I was limiting my exposure as much as I could while still owned my truck and drove it..I did NOT do JCT's lease purchase program but its not that bad of a deal either..lease brand new truck for 5 years..at end of five years pay it off with a dollar and its yours..

Meanwhile on sci the show How do they do it is at the Pete factory :D
