You are NOT too old. You are just slightly older than the average age of a truck driver, 56. The industry has slowed down. Companies are not hiring as many drivers right now as they did 3 years ago, but they are still hiring lots of drivers. The "good news" most of the brand new inexperienced drivers will quit before they work for 1 year. That is due to 2 big reasons. 1) Lots of newbies do zero research before entering the industry so they have no idea what they are signing up for. When the job isn't just casually driving around beautiful places and getting paid, they quit. 2) Some companies have decided it's cheaper to just keep hiring thousands of drivers every year rather than doing more to keep the drivers they have now.

RIGHT NOW, but not for the rest of history, companies have some ability to hire only newbies that have zero blemishes in their past, so many others are having SOME difficulty getting that first job. Avoid CR England if at all possible. They have over half of their drivers with 90 days experience or less. The don't seem to even try to keep drivers, just replace the many that leave every week.

At least a dozen companies hiring new cdl school grads around the Tampa area.
Any objection the teams? Just interested in solo driving?

How do they expect you to be able to pay your car insurance if you can't work?!? Talk about bass-ackwards.
