If you work for a county as an heavy equipment operator, that requires a CDL class-A license: would the time you've worked as an equipment operator count as experience against the 1 year most trucking companies require?

swift is considering as an experince driver with the last 11.5 yrs driving local with coca cola. i droe for swift back in '97 for about 4 months. and have been unemployed since sept. 2011

Sorry, driving heavy equipment is NOT considered trucking experience.......

No it will not count as experience.
Most companies gauge your experience (for pay rate) by using a point system. For instance one year over the road is one point. Two years = two points, etc... Some companies will count local experience as 1/2 a point. -

That is a big feather in your cap! Truckers drive trucks, Heavy Haul drives anything that moves. FBF (flat beds forever) I'm a Trucker that hauls equitment and load & unload it.
