its the american way now. $12 per hour is crap. when i had the interview i asked her about wage growth, there isnt any $13 after 90 days is basically it. i told her i would go there and do an honest job im probably not going to have much longevity. she said they "invest" allot of money in training and they like to hire people that have long term plans to stay there. i left a job almost a decade ago because i was making similar money and more money was not forthcoming. who in their right mind can work there and commit to it. you guys are right, not really enough money to justify the drive to work. $480 minus taxes about $400 take home, $50 per week in gas $350 actual income. what am i gonna do with that, blow my nose? buy some TP for my bunghole? i was polite and as professional as possible but i dont see how they get anyone to stick around. it was a cheese plant. i have 8 years of experience in food manufacturing. that seems to mean nothing to them.
Don't tell them that because they won't even hire you. Just get hired and use it as a temporary stepping stone until you find something better. The only people who can survive on $350 a week take home pay are those that live with their parents rent free. Even then they live frugally. The American Dream is dead and it will most likely get even worse. In the old days a man was able to support a house, wife, and kids from a factory job.
its extremely frustrating. now with a temp service you have to go for an interview with the temp service and then for the "client". i got turned down for the $14 per hour job. im starting to get really pissed off. i understand why people resort to doing illegal things i wont mention in order to survive. WHY do i have to interview with the "client" WHY WHY WHY. im not working for them, at least not in the beginning. i worked for a couple of temps in the past, they weren't good but i used them to get a permanent job. go work for the temp service 3-6 months and get a job. i was never double screened in the past. that's exactly what it feels like. its all a crock of poop. where is there another trucking company with consistent home-time, because i cant seem to find anyone jobs around here that pay well..... not even close.
Why not? You have to meet greet, smooze and make client happy. I once had a temp job with a Day cab feeding a shipping building and a production building round robin with 25 trailers. 1,2,3,4 5... round and round. Great work. But come dinner time boss asked if I was good to continue a while longer... I wanted out. He let me out. But found another replacement to tide over until his regular boy got off the pain meds issued after getting his busted arm casted and set eariler in the day.
Yeah, I tried the temp agency thing once too and it was a waste of my time. They sent me for an interview for some BS warehouse job paying $10/hr and the manager decided to take the applicant before me and didn't even give me an interview. Wasted half the day and gas money. Only words of encouragement I can give you is be patient and wait and see what happens with HO Wolding. Scour Craigslist because sometimes you can find an O/O from your area that needs a co-driver. You'd probably do west coast runs and be home every 7 or 8 days.
HO wolding denied my application. apparently work history. my work history has been consistent up until the last year. i have had a slew of bad luck. nobody cares. who else should i consider? im also attempting to contact rist safety department to see if they were kind enough to add a going away present on my DAC score.
I would try these: Boon and Sons ( Refuse/rolloffs) based out of Chili, not too far from you New Penn Maines Ricelli Clean Harbors Sweetners Plus NFI local asphalt paving crews Septic service companies Pepsi Luke Beverage I'll have to check later, im at work, thats all I can come up with off the top of my head
sweetners plus, was and dont know if they still are sister company to R.conley trucking in elma. i worked in R conley washbay years ago. conley DOES NOT as a rule take new drivers. dont know if both companies are handled the same way.
I'd try anyway, you've got nothing to lose at this point, just blanket apply everywhere you can, somethings bound to come up for ya
Not sure how far this is from your house but they say experience is preferred not required. https://buffalo.craigslist.org/trp/6076684372.html Home weekly team job: https://buffalo.craigslist.org/trp/6072926542.html
