What I said wasn't wrong, but that's even worse. 2017 was the earliest date listed on QRZ. I didn't bother to look up your FCC record. It's an issue with credibility. You're claiming to know more than other very experienced members here who you know nothing about, while not even being licensed to operate in the HF bands. You're acting a bit like a lid here.

Apparently you don't know the process of license renewals and ONLY the latest issue of the license is kept in their database. Not only that but also you keep bringing things up to make it seem that myself and other HAMS do not know anything about how signals work, even on a straight out of the box from the factory radio with a tuned antenna. You just sound like another broken record here in trying to make HAM Operators seem as though they know absolutely nothing and all CB Radio operators are the smartest people in the world. Any idiot can hook up a true CB and antenna, get the antenna tuned to the radio and go nuts. ANY moron that has a soldering iron and a screwdriver can take the covers off of a 10 HAM Radio and convert it to use on 11 meter. It's not rocket science.

You implied you know more about propagation than I or anyone else does with this response - "I know more about propagation, sun spot cycles and skip than you ever will."

    You don't, that's my point.

Not saying you are dumb or trying to bicker about it, but it seems a lot of new hams have a chip on their shoulder and seem to try to dazzle people, especially CBers.

You are just starting to understand how this all works. 2007 isn't a lot of time - 16 years, admittedly limited your time on the air to 2m work just shows you need to understand and expand your horizon because you are not all that great at explaining things, especially when there are a bunch of us who have forgotten more than you know.

I have more than 2m radios. And I have been studying for quite some time since I got my Tech ticket. I am definitely not new to HAM or to radios in general. As I have said before in this thread, I have been around radios for a very long time and I did in fact start on CB. We could sit here all day going back and forth about such things but you just honestly do not know the things that I do know and have for many years put into practice. I am not bickering at all with you but three have been many antennas and other things I have designed, built, tested and not everything worked or have even worked the first time. I improve on my own knowledge and experience by learning from my mistakes.

So your a tech ? Do you work on radio’s? If I was send you my Anytone quad 6, what can or would you do to make it work with “your specs” ? What would I except from your tune and I don’t mean the butcher method ?

Here is a 2 meter J-Pole antenna I built a few years ago. It does not look like it because it was covered in a clear laquer and I used a stainless bolt and nut on the ground (short stub) The entire purpose of that bolt is for tuning SWR like there are tuning stubs on Firestick antennas. I made it, checked the SWR and it was a 1.5 on the frequency I use the most. For most people that is an acceptable reading for HAM Radio, but I wanted it lower, which I did get it to 1.2 which is "just okay" for me. I have since then revised the lengths and dimensions of the copper pipe I used for this and have since then built a better one with an SWR of 1.1 across the 2 meter band. Before all of this and when I got my very first CB Radio that I paid for with my own money, I wasn't too thrilled with how the radio was tuned so I taught myself how to tune them and when I had a flat 1.1 SWR across the entire 11 meter band, I was HOOKED on getting the best performance I could with any radio and antenna I laid my hands on. Did I ever use anything over the 4 watts allowed? I would be a liar if I said no, because I did, until I started getting my system tuned myself. I DID used to run a 100W modulator and that was all. After I got my radio and antenna tuned to how I wanted it and was satisfied with it, I never ran anything but a bone stock 4W radio and maybe a power mic. I was running a Cobra 29LTD Classic with a Wilson 5000 trunk mount (not truck mount) on a Mercury Grand Marquis, with additional ground braids. The point in all of this thread was complaints about Mark Sherman aka Mud Duck in the Desert, aka Hard Drive. I know what a radio and good antenna system is capable of and when everything is tuned to each other, there simply is no need for extra power. I will not deny that people don't because I know they do. As a HAM Operator, I know that the only power you need is ONLY the power you absolutely need to make the contact. If others can relay information then let them. I will GLADLY talk and have a civil discussion about things if people are willing to listen.

I do not tune radios, sorry. The only thing I do is repair my own and if a friend of mine needs help with theirs, I will help him.

Well I figured since you talk the talk, you know what it takes for a radio to perform. I’m giving you the opportunity of the doubt…… and I’m not referring to the antenna and coax, that’s basic 101.
